Mrs. Sailer

In reading, we will work on fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, and other important reading skills.  To work on and apply these skills, we will read several novels together in class and occasionally use the Houghton Mifflin Reading series textbooks.  Students will also use the online resource Study Island to develop reading skills.  Additionally, I frequently use literature circles in class.

In English we will focus on both grammar and writing skills.  The six-trait writing system will be used with writing assignments throughout the year.

In all classes, students are required to have a free reading book with them!  This book can come from home, the school library, or the public library.
